"Simply Me"

Who am I?

I am an ordinary woman doing extraordinary things!

I have been privileged to have had a busy and varied career in banking, administration and retail; and have fulfilled my musical dream of teaching and playing music.  To accentuate my passion for variety I found, by chance, the opportunity to become a celebrant.  In 2017 I signed up for the courses with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants and a new chapter began in my Book of Life.  I also work at a crematorium as a chapel attendant which gives me much support as a funeral celebrant.

I am part of a wide and extensive family and have experienced many family gatherings; I have been the recipient of much generosity and kindness, it is now time to give something back - and make a difference!

So, where did it all begin?

I was born in Peterborough in 1965, spending my formative years in London, until my father died in 1971 and we moved to Southend on Sea.  My mother remarried and my sister and I gained a new father and two additional siblings.  I married Trevor in 1986, and we live in the heart of the delightful Kent countryside, we have two beautiful and accomplished daughters, who live close by.

I have drawn my inspiration and confidence from many sources, including the Women's Institute; of which I have been a member since 1987.  The movement in the UK has been "Inspiring women and making a difference since 1915".  I firmly believe that one always can learn something new at whatever age.

"Musical Me"

I have loved music all my life, and when I was 9 years old my parents gave me the chance to learn the piano.  Since then, I have never looked back!

I have been working as a professional musician since 2001 evolving as a pianist, organist and capable singer and conductor.  I am a peripatetic organist working in several churches, one with a small choir.

Between 2011 - 2015, I was fortunate to gain a BA (Hons) degree in Church Music as a mature student.  The experience was incredible, with firm friendships made and opportunities to strengthen my ability to play and teach and develop further as a church musician.
